This Weekend, Chicago

This weekend, I return to sweet home, Chicago for WorldCon, ChiCon 7, whatever you want to call it. I call it some fun filled with some hopes and lots of friends and more than one or two memories.

I love Chicago like no other city I've lived in. It moves me, much like this song. I hope to see you there. I hope to see it all.

Rodrigo Y Gabriela

My last post was a video of the awesomeness that is: Rodrigo y Gabriela.  Go listen to it if you haven't already. It, and they, are amazing.

I have purchased the album,  11:11. Fast where it should be, deliberate where it should, and always powerful, the music is truly a pleasure free of guilt. Chac Mool, the shortest track, is a favorite I have found new things in every time I listen to it.

This, from an older album with a number of cover songs on it, shows some more of the skill this pair bring to their guitars:

More Music

Discovered this last week and have listened to it in both versions a number of times.

I am not sure which version I like more...

The song contains some amazing lyrics I find both haunting and disturbing:

I'm not scared of your stolen power.
See right through it anyhow.

I seek you out and flay you alive.
One more word and you won't survive

And then the dubstep version, which is its own disturbing brand of awesome:
